The surveillance video that purportedly shows a man in a #12 football jersey kicking the hitchhiking robot as it sat on a bench in Philadelphia's Old City neighborhood was all part of a prank. Video bloggers and known pranksters, Jesse Wellens and Ed Bassmaster, were the last known people to be seen with the robot. They included their antics with hitchBOT in a recent episode of their show where they left the robot on a bench near Elfreth's Alley along 2nd Street. Following the news that it was destroyed, the surveillance video of the incident was actually 'obtained' by Jesse Wellens. The man in the jersey resembles one of Ed Bassmaster's characters called 'Always Teste'. The duo have now come clean and posted a revealing video showing it all to be a fake out.
