Boy Scouts End Ban on Gay Leaders; Drexel Therapy Dog; Phony Papal Security Maps

The Boy Scouts of America on Monday ended its blanket ban on gay adult leaders while allowing church-sponsored Scout units to maintain the exclusion for religious reasons. The new policy, aimed at easing a controversy that has embroiled the Boy Scouts for years, takes effect immediately. It was approved by the BSA's National Executive Board by a vote of 45-12.

Drexel University has added a new staff member and will help make students feel better. He is a dog named Jersey. Jersey is a therapy dog for studentâ€™s and has office hours two days a week. His office is on the third floor of the student recreation center. Jersey was adopted in June 2014 by the student fitness and wellness program coordinator at Drexel. Students report that sessions with Jersey make them feel relaxed and less grumpy.

Phony papal security maps are showing up on the internet. Mayor Michael Nutter was quick to note that those maps are false and official information will be released in an appropriate manner. Businesses, residents and visitors are clamoring for information about road and bridge closures, public transportation and general access. The Secret Service says final plans may not be released until 3 weeks before Pope Francis comes to Philly.
