Chester Two Car Crash Kills Two, Chester Police Car Crash Kills One, School District City Funding

Officials say two people are dead after a two-car crash overnight in Chester, Delaware County. This happened in the early morning hours at West 2nd and Pusey Streets. Car parts were all over the road following the accident, but that has since been cleaned up. Investigators are still collecting evidence to figure out exactly what happened.

Authorities say a man is dead after he collided with a police car while he was fleeing officers Wednesday night in Chester, Delaware County. This happened around 8:30 p.m.at Keystone Road and West 13th Street. Authorities say the man was trying to get away from officers on his bike after an attempted robbery. He was taken to Crozer-Chester Medical Center where he died from his injuries. The incident remains under investigation.

Philadelphia City Council has decided not to meet the school districtâ€™s request for more than $100 million in new city funding. The lawmakers instead have set a lower goal of about $80 million, and how theyâ€™ll get there is very unclear. According to multiple sources, a host of ideas are being looked at, including increasing the cityâ€™s Use and Occupancy (U&O) tax, raising the tax on off-street parking, passing a smaller property tax hike, and/or the sale of tax liens to third parties. There also has been discussion of reviving Mayor Nutterâ€™s idea of a tax on sugary beverages â€” an idea that Council shot down twice in recent years.
