Nineteen people were displaced overnight after fire tore through several rowhomes in Chester, Delaware County. Flames broke out around 1:30 a.m. Monday along the 400 block of Bickley Place.
The fire started in a vacant home and quickly spread to three occupied houses. All four homes, including the vacant house, were seriously damaged by the fire. A fifth home was damaged by smoke. The fire was placed under control in about an hour-and-a-half. No one was injured, but the American Red Cross was helping five displaced families of eight adults and 11 children.

An emergency test of the sirens around the Limerick nuclear power plant will be this afternoon. Limerick Generating Station will conduct one of two yearly, full volume tests of the emergency sirens around 2pm Monday. The siren is signal to tune to an emergency broadcast station for more information. It will be a full volume, three-minute test of the 165 sirens within the 10-mile radius of the power plant. Residents may contact the counties at the following numbers if they have concerns during testing:
• Berks County (610) 374-4800
