19 Guns Stolen From Collingdale Store; School Bus Crash in I-76; PPA Chooses Mobile Pay App Pango

Police are investigating after 19 guns were stolen from a gun shop in Collingdale early Thursday morning. The burglary happened just after 4 a.m. at the Suburban Armory gun store on the 1000 block of MacDade Boulevard. Three to four suspects kicked out the front glass window. They then smashed glass cases and grabbed the handguns - including both semiautomatics and revolvers. They tried to get to the rifles and shotguns on the wall but they are secured with a cable. They fled in two separate cars. One is a light colored GM sedan and the other is a maroon Pontiac Montana minivan. (see pictures below) If you have any information contact Collingdale police.

UPDATE: $2500 reward being offered

A bus full of preschoolers on their way to the Philadelphia Zoo crashed into a barrier on the Schuylkill Expressway this morning. It happened just before 10 a.m. eastbound on I-76 approaching Girard Ave. The bus was full of young children from Hope Church School, located at 6707 Old York Rd in Philadelphia. Firefighters helped the kids off the back of the bus and into a new bus. They were all taken to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia for evaluation. There have been no reports of any serious injuries. Police are still investigating the cause of the accident.

The Philadelphia Parking Authority (PPA) has chosen a vendor to develop a mobile app to enable you to pay for parking (and extend parking) using your cell phone. Pango was selected from five proposals because of its low customer cost ($.01 per transaction), quality product, and advertising opportunities. Using the service is simple. After you sign up on the free app with your name, phone number, license plate, and payment information you are ready to park. Simply put in the zone number shown on the meters and signs, enter the amount of time, and hit start. When you are leaving the space you hit stop. You only pay for the time you use and never leave money in the meter. If you are still out at lunch or shopping, simply use the app to add more time. PPA wants to raise the rate for that additional time to encourage turnover of parking spaces, but at least you won't get a ticket for being a few minutes late. There's also a toll-free number for those without a smartphone. The program will start in Center City between 4th to 20th Streets, Arch to Locust Streets as well as Columbus Blvd.. from Spring Garden to Race Streets. After a six month trial period, it is expected to expand to the entire city. The app can also point you to open parking spaces or help you find your car. Pango is already being used in Scranton and Harrisburg. Expect to see it become available towards the end of the summer.
