Four Philly Cops Injured, Suspect Shot - Video; High Schooler Gets Montco Commendation

Four Philadelphia Police officers from the 35th District were injured in a hit-and-run after being struck following a struggle with the driver in the city's Olney section on Tuesday afternoon. A 2:17 p.m., officers received a call about a car accident on the 800 block of Olney Avenue. They found a car crashed into a wall. When they tried to help the man out of the vehicle he began to fight with the police. They say he appeared incoherent. During the struggle the man got back into the car and sped off, injuring several officers. (see video below). As the man continued to flee from police he struck and injured more police along the way. Near Stenton and Ogontz Aves, police opened fire on the suspect striking him. They were eventually able to catch up to him and place him under arrest. He is currently in critical condition at Albert Einstein Medical Center. The four officers were also taken to Einstein and are all listed in stable condition with non life-threatening injuries.

A high school student from Souderton, PA, received a commendation from the Montgomery County district attorney's office for his help during last year's manhunt for Bradley Stone. Stone killed his wife and five of her family members in the county before killing himself in the woods near his Pennsburg home. Authorities has initially released a photo of Stone that showed him with a beard. Montco DA Risa Ferman says that they needed to alter that image to reflect that Stone had shaved the beard. All of the county's law enforcement personnel who were capable of making the graphic changes were busy in the field with the extensive manhunt. Souderton Area High School student Cory Azeff was able to use the high school's digital media lab to make the changes to the photo to reflect Stone's appearance on that day. The image was sent to media outlets around the state and country as the manhunt grew. (see image below)
