A woman was shot and killed in North Philadelphia on Saturday night. It happened before 9 p.m. on 5th Street between Susquehanna Avenue. and Diamond Street. The woman in her 40's was shot in her head and neck. She was rushed to Temple University Hospital where she was pronounced dead a short time later. Police are looking for the shooter, although it is believed that it is a man that was living with the victim. The investigation is ongoing.

The Philadelphia Soul are off to an amazing start this season, extending their record to a franchise best start 6-0 with a 52-35 win over the Portland Thunder at the Wells Fargo Center on Saturday. Despite the excellent play on the field by the home team, there was an unfortunate incident in South Philly involving a member of the Thunder. Late in the third quarter, #16 Quincy Butler, a defensive back for Portland, was penalized and ejected for throwing punches in a fight after the whistle. On his way back to the bench he threw his helmet and it hit a fan in the stands. There is no word on the status of the fan as the Soul, the Arena Football League, or Security could not comment. Arena Football will review footage from the game to determine any discipline warranted for Butler.

A Bucks County child was flown to the hospital after being accidentally shot in the chest with a BB gun. The 9-year-old girl was shot by a 21-year-old man around 3:30 pm Saturday on Bellevue Avenue near Neshaminy Street in Hulmeville. She was taken to St. Mary's Medical Center and then flown to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. There is no word on her condition. State police are investigating the incident.

The Philadelphia Eagles completed the NFL draft on Saturday picking three more defensive players. They added Kansas cornerback JaCorey Shepherd with the 191st overall pick, Kansas State defensive back Randall Evans at No. 196 and finished with Boston College defensive end Brian Mihalik at No. 237. In the first three rounds they picked, wide receiver Nelson Agholor from USC at No. 20, safety Eric Rowe from Utah at No. 47, and line backer Jordan Hicks from Texas at 84. The Eagles also signed a free agent contract with Roxborough-native, and Division III standout from Delaware Valley College, Rasheed Bailey. Bailey worked out for several NFL teams this spring ahead of the draft, including the Eagles, and despite not having his name called in Chicago he'll be able to tryout for the team he grew up rooting for this summer.

Police have found 1 of 2 moving vans that were stolen this week. The Penske truck was discovered at 1:20 a.m. Saturday in the 1100 block of Rising Sun Avenue. They are still looking for a white Ford E 250 U-Haul van with Arizona tags that was stolen last Sunday. Two suspects forced a homeless man to open an account at TD Bank. (see picture below) They then took him to U-Haul to rent the van. They promised to come back with the van and pay the man for using his ID, but never returned. Authorities do not have reason to believe that there is a connection between these two thefts, or that they are part of any other plans. They are asking the public's help to find them.
