Philadelphia Police have made three more arrests in a brutal attack on a homeless man at a gas station in Olney. That attack was caught on surveillance video. The three suspects were all charges as juveniles with attempted murder, aggravated assault, simple assault and related offenses. A total of 6 people have now been charged with the attack. 23-year-old Kaisha Duggins, 34-year-old Aleathea Gillard, and 24-year-old Shareena Joachim have previously been arrested and charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, possessing instruments of crime, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person. The incident happened on April 7th at a gas station on the 5500 block of North 5th Street. The video shows several people beating the man with several objects such as sticks, a hammer, and pieces of wood. They fled in a minivan. The victim is still in a coma. A high school football star from Camden was shot and killed on the streets near his home early Saturday morning. 18-year-old Jameer Bullard (pictured below) was a star running back and linebacker for Woodrow Wilson High. He had a recruitment offer to play at Temple University and was still making his college decision leading up to graduation this spring. Last night around 12:30 a.m. Saturday he was walking to a store with a younger cousin on the 1200 block of Mechanic Street when shots rang out. Bullard pushed his cousin out of the way and he was hit in the back. He was taken to Cooper University Hospital where he died. Bullard was set to participate in the Nike Invitational next week. Anyone with information should call Camden County Prosecutor’s Office Detective Anthony Roccia at (856) 365-3122 or Camden County Police Detective Mark Lee at (856) 757-7420.
Camden's School Superintendent released this statement:
"Jameer's passing is tragic, and we join his classmates, teammates, coaches, teachers, and loved ones in mourning his loss. We're closely supporting the students, staff, and family during this most difficult time."
Two people have been arrested in the kidnapping of an 86-year-old veteran and his 55-year-old girlfriend on Thursday in Southwest Philadelphia. Police have taken 25-year-old Damon Cornish and 23-year-old Vashti Williams into custody. Cornish has been charged with theft and unauthorized use of an auto. Williams is charged with robbery, criminal conspiracy, kidnapping and related offenses. The victims, George Saunders and Priscilla Jones, were out for a walk when three women in a Town and Country minivan pulled up and offered a ride. The two declined but the women ushered them in regardless. The man was forced to open a bank account in his name and rent cars at two different locations. After driving them around for several hours the two victims were dropped back off in their neighborhood. Police expect to make more arrests. The rental cars have been recovered. Investigators believe there may be more victims. Anyone with information is urged to contact 215-686-TIPS (8477).
