Philadelphia Police are 'certain' that they have recovered the car that killed a 2-year-old boy and injured his mother in a hit-and-run accident in Kensington this week. The white 2006 Infiniti sedan was dropped off at the 19th Police District on the 6000 block of Thompson Street in West Philadelphia at 6:00 a.m. Friday by the owner of the car who lives in Williamsport, PA. The man said he was visiting family in the area and lent his car to a 19-year-old family member on the day of the incident. When he started seeing news reports of the accident the owner of the car began to suspect his own vehicle was involved. Police say that a damaged left headlamp which fell off during the crash matches perfectly with damage on this vehicle. Two-year-old David Alicea and his 19-year-old mother, Josephine Rivera, were struck while crossing the street on the 2700 block of Mascher Street around 7 p.m. Monday. David died early Thursday morning. The 19-year-old relative has not been identified or arrested yet. There is a $20,000 reward in this case.

A construction worker died Friday morning after falling approximately 80 feet at a site in University City. It happened around 8:10 Friday morning in the 2900 block of Chestnut Street. The 42-year-old man fell 80 feet to the ground working on the Cira South complex. He was taken to Presbyterian Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 8:43 am. The circumstances surrounding the fall are not yet known. The victim's identity has not yet been released.

A Delaware County mother and her boyfriend are facing murder charges in the beating death of her 2-year-old son. 30-year-old Shannon Matthews of Chester and 31-year-old Daniel Grafton of Wallingford have been charged with third degree murder and related offenses. Matthews brought 2-year-old Mason Hunt's unconscious body to the doctor's office she works at below her apartment on February 3rd. Paramedics arrived to find the boy cold to the touch. He was pronounced dead at the hospital. That day Grafton had been watching the boy while Matthews was at work. Officials say the child had over a hundred bruises from being beat and pinched on his head, body, and groin. They are being held without bail.
