Revel Generators Arrive in AC; PA Senate Bill Against Sick Leave; Fairmount Park Crash

Three portable generator trucks have arrived at the former Revel hotel-casino in Atlantic City which was bought last week by Florida developer Glenn Straub. Straub says that the two main units and one backup should be operational in two days. The $2.4 billion building has been dark since last Thursday when ACR Energy Partners cut power and water to it's only client. The city has been fining Straub $5,000 per day for not having operational fire prevention and suppression systems in the 710 foot building. ACR was built alongside Revel as its sole energy provider. The two have not been able to agree on terms for future services or past bills. Straub is also threatening to evict ACR from the property, which he now owns. He is exploring options to tap into utilities via the former Showboat casino next door which he purchased earlier this month.

The Pennsylvania Senate has approved a bill that could overturn Philadelphia's new paid sick leave measure that requires business owners with 10 or more employees to allow earned sick leave. Senators voted 37-12 barring Pennsylvania municipalities from enacting policies that provide leave that goes beyond state or federal law. Philadelphia's law goes into effect in May and allows 1 hour of sick time for every 40 hours worked, or about 6 days a year. Sick time can be taken for the worker's own illness or the illness of a family member. The bill now goes to the House. Gov. Wolf is against the bill.

Two people have been hospitalized and another arrested after a hit and run accident in Fairmount Park this afternoon. The accident happened around 4 pm. Tuesday at Ford Road and Chamonix Drive. A car and SUV collided and on eof the drivers fled on foot through the park. Police apprehended him near the Schuylkill Expressway. Two people were taken to Presbyterian Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
