Police say they are investigating a home invasion that occurred early Thursday morning in the Point Breeze section of Philadelphia. This happened just before 4 a.m. on the 1700 block of Chadwick Street. Police say when they arrived, the elderly woman who lives in the house says a black man broke in and assaulted her. The suspect then reportedly left the scene on foot without taking anything. The victim’s injuries are not said to be serious. Police are still looking for the suspect as the investigation continues.

A new Franklin and Marshall College Poll shows support for Governor Wolf’s proposal to restructure the state’s taxes, which would impose a tax on natural gas drilling, and would increase sales and income taxes while reducing property taxes. The F&M Poll shows 38-percent of voters surveyed believe Governor Wolf is doing a “good” or “excellent” job. That’s better than former Governor Corbett at this early point, but not as good as former Governors Ridge and Rendell.

Facebook’s Messenger is becoming a massive communications hub where users will be able to do much more than chat with others on the service. Developers can now add a Messenger button to third-party apps. ESPN and The Weather Channel are among the 40 apps that now support Facebook Messenger. Zuckerberg also introduced a feature called “Messenger Business ” which will let users communicate directly with merchants, make reservations and check shipping information.
