Snow Emergency Delays, United Bank of America Car Crash, Revel Casino Sale

A snow emergency has gone into effect in Philadelphia, while one was already in place in New Jersey. SEPTA expects to run trains, buses and trolleys on normal weekday schedules today, but they do warn that could change as the snow moves in you can expect delays. Amtrak is running on a modified schedule. Philadelphia International Airport is reporting over 400 flights in and out of Philadelphia have already been cancelled for today. If your scheduled to fly in or out of town you are encouraged to check your flight status in advance by 1-800-PHL-GATE or by visiting the PHL website.

Police say a car crashed into a bank in North Philadelphia early Thursday morning after striking another vehicle. This happened just before 2 a.m. at the United Bank of America at Broad and Jefferson Streets. The driver of an Escalade ran a red light and crashed into another car, causing the Escalade to crash through the front window and door of the bank. At least three people inside the Escalade got out after the crash and left the scene. No injuries were reported to the driver of the vehicle that was struck by the Escalade.

As if there hasn’t been enough drama in the first two attempts to sell the shuttered Revel hotel casino, the third try is being delayed as a judge allows a new player into the discussion, and a bank says they’re tired from floating millions of dollars into the effort. Wells Fargo might pull the plug on paying ongoing bills at the Revel, prompting Judge Gloria Burns to suggest she might take the Revel from chapter 11 bankruptcy to chapter 7 liquidation. This as California based DTLA Development group stands ready to bid $80 million and keep the current tenants in place. Their attorney, Kurt Gwynne, was given a week. So does Florida developer Glenn Straub, who has $82 million held in escrow and is legally bound to close on March 31st, unless Burns rejects the deal, a better one is approved or the power gets cut off.
