Man Hit By Bus at Olney; Black Madam Talks Celebrity Clients; Verizon Land Lines No Longer Monopoly

A man was hit by a SEPTA bus in North Philadelphia this afternoon. It happened shortly before 4 pm at the Olney Transportation Center at Broad and Olney. The victim, described as a man in his early 20's, had missed the bus and was trying to get the driver's attention by banging on the door. The Route 6 bus was already pulling onto Broad Street. The man tripped, fell, and was struck by the bus. He suffered a severe leg injury and was taken to Einstein Hospital. No word on his current condition.

Padge Victoria Windslowe, aka the 'Black Madame', continued her testimony on the stand this afternoon. She told tales of celebrity clients who lined up for her services including model and Philadelphia-native Amber Rose. Rose is known for her figure and past relationships with rappers Wiz Khalifa and Kanye West. Windslowe said that West even dropped Rose off for one procedure while the two were dating. "Amber was like a walking billboard." She claims that the curvy Nicki Minaj also sought her out, but the appointment was canceled following the death of the woman Windslowe is on trial for murdering. Windslowe also explained her 'Madame' moniker comes from her years running an escort service.

For the first time, the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission has changed the designation of Verizon 'wire centers' that provide land line telephone service from â€œmonopolyâ€ to â€œcompetitive.â€ This will allow Verizon to set it's own price for their services without approval from state regulators. This ruling applies to 153 centers in urban areas in Philadelphia, Pittsburg, and others cities throughout the state. Verizon demonstrated that there was â€œavailability of like or substitute services.â€ The proliferation of wireless, voice-over-ip, tv-internet-phone bundle packages, etc. has given consumers many options for telephone communication besides just land-lines, which just a few years ago were the only option. However, many customers who still do rely on the traditional phone lines can be the most vulnerable, including the elderly and sick, and may not be able to afford a change in the price of their service.
