Detectives are investigating a double stabbing early Wednesday in Philadelphia's Mt. Airy section. Two people were stabbed at Johnson Street and Stenton Avenue around 3am. One of the victims died — the other is in critical condition at Einstein Medical Center. The suspect is a man last seen wearing a black jacket, a thin build, full beard, and seen fleeing the scene in a Buick LeSabre.

Selfie sticks have some museums considering changes to their photo policies. In order to take a good selfie there are some things one must consider, like the lighting and the angles. That’s exactly why some people – many of them tourists – have taken to using selfie sticks. The popular gadget has not been banned in any Philadelphia museums yet, but some museums like the Boston Museum of Fine Arts and New York’s Museum of Modern art have banned them considering them a distraction and a danger to visitors and a danger to the art.

Today’s School Reform Commission commissioners will vote on whether to approve new charter schools. Both sides of the issue are putting on the pressure. The SRC must consider new charters under provisions that Republican state lawmakers tacked on to a bill allowing the city to collect an extra two dollars a pack on cigarettes, to help close a large budget deficit last year. The tax was expected to raise $49 million, but the district stands to lose as much as $100 million if the new charter school applications are approved, which is why a number of school groups are demanding that no charters get approved.
