Police have identified the man shot and killed at a community center in New Castle, DE yesterday afternoon. 30-year-old Jamar Kilgoe of the 900 block of East 24th Street died at the scene at the Rose Hill Community Center. Kilgoe was in a recording studio in the basement. The shooting ran into the center, headed straight to the lower level, shot Kilgoe, and then fled on foot. The suspect is described as a black male with a large build. He was last seen wearing a light-colored hoodie, dark pants and dark shoes. The building hosts a variety of programs and was full of young people at the time from teenagers and below. The building was put on lockdown immediately following the incident but children and parents were eventually reunited. If you have any information call New Castle County Police at (302) 573-2800.

Former Pennsylvania State Treasurer Rob McCord pled guilty to two counts of attempted extortion in U.S. District Court in Harrisburg on Tuesday. McCord is accused of strong-arming state contractors into donating to his failed campaign to run for governor last year by using his position as treasurer as leverage. McCord stepped down late last month, at first saying he was headed back to the private sector, but then acknowledging the investigation against him the next day. U.S. District Judge John E. Jones III set a pre-sentencing conference for June. A sentencing date has not been determined.
