Philadelphia Police have released photos of a man they say beat and nearly raped a woman at a Center City SEPTA station yesterday. The attack happened around 1:30 pm Monday afternoon at Jefferson Station, formerly Market East. The woman was on her way home to the Northeast when she was approached by a man asking for directions which turned into a demand for sex. The man walked with her onto the concourse and then pulled her into a secluded off-limits area. He beat and kicked her and then tried to rape her. She managed to get away and other commuters called police. The woman is still in the hospital. The suspect is described as a black male, tall, skinny, mid-20's, wearing a backpack and a black coat with silver trim. He was around 5'10" or 5'11”. If you have any information call Philadelphia Police at 215-686-TIPS (8477).

A Pennsylvania State Police corporal has been arrested and charged in connection with the fatal shooting of another trooper in a firearms training accident at the Montgomery County Tactical Response Training Center on Conshohocken Road in Plymouth Township. On September 30th, 2014, 43-year-old Corporal Richard Schroeter was conducting a training session when he pulled the trigger of his firearm while discussing trigger mechanisms. The gun discharged and killed 26-year-old Trooper David Kedra. Prosecutors presented the case to a grand jury and gave them the option to consider homicide, involuntary manslaughter or reckless endangerment. They found sufficient evidence that Schroeter did not take proper safety precautions. He has been charged with 5 counts of recklessly endangering another person. Schroeter is free on $50,000 unsecured bail and has waived his right to a preliminary hearing, an indication that he might want to work out a plea deal.

Philadelphia Police are searching for a suspect who threatened employees with a syringe while robbing a dollar store in North Philadelphia. It happened on February 5th at the Family Dollar Store on the 700 block of West Lehigh Avenue at 4:45pm. The entire incident was caught on the store's surveillance system. The man browsed around the store and hid several items in his coat. When he tried to leave he was stopped by store employees who confronted him about what he was carrying. The man then reached into his coat and pulled out the syringe and swung it at the employees while reportedly making verbal threats. They backed off and he walked out the front door carrying a bottle of Tide detergent in his coat. He is described as a black male, 5’9” with facial hair. He was wearing a green pullover windbreaker and blue jeans. He was also carrying a green bag, and was armed with a syringe. If you see this man or know anything, do not approach, call 911.

Tonight,
Partly Cloudy, temperatures in the mid/low 30's this evening in Center City
