Olney Dunkin Donuts Robbery, Affordable Care Act Deadline, SpongeBob Tops Box Office

Philadelphia Police say a shot was fired during a robbery at a Dunkin' Donuts in Olney earlier Monday morning. It happened around 6:30 a.m. at the store at 5th Street and West Somerville Avenue. Police say a man fled with an undetermined amount of cash after firing a shot inside of the store. No one was injured during the robbery.

This is the final week of open enrollment in health insurance through the Affordable Care Act for this year –and insurers and advocates are making a big push to get the uninsured to sign up. As of the end of January, more than 224,000 people in the Philadelphia-area have selected a plan through the health insurance marketplace.
February 15th is the deadline. Independence Blue Cross, which got the lion’s share of business through the marketplace, last year, will also be offering assistance all week with its mobile unit in Bala Cynwyd and all next weekend at its 1901 Market Street headquarters in Center City. There’s extra incentive to get signed up this year: the penalty for not having insurance increases.

It was SpongeBob Squarepants squeezing American Sniper right off its first-place perch. The new animated comedy sequel, The SpongeBob Movie: Fish Out of Water, opened to an estimated weekend total of $56-million. That dropped the military drama, American Sniper, which took in $24-million, to second place after three weekends in a row on top of the heap, but it pushed its cumulative total close to the $300-million mark. Third place belonged to the debuting science fiction thriller, Jupiter Ascending, which earned $19-million. The new action-adventure fantasy, Seventh Son, placed fourth with $7-million, while the returning kidflick, Paddington, was fifth with $5-million.
