Philly Cops Stop Robbery - Video; Phillies' Front Office Changes; Montco Womans Steals From Scouts

Two Philadelphia undercover officers interrupted an armed robbery at a donut shop Monday morning and surveillance footage of the incident is bringing the department praise. It happened at approximately 10:18 a.m. on January 26 at the Dunkin Donuts store on the 6200 block of North Front Street. Plainclothes Officers Sherman and Austin were assigned to the area due to recent armed robberies. They observed the suspect, 20-year-old Russell Mason-Watts, enter the store wearing a white mask armed with a gun and announce a robbery. The officers were able to quietly enter the store behind the suspect with their weapons drawn, disarm him, and take him into custody without anyone getting hurt. It turns out the weapon was only a BB gun, but there was no way to know that until the officers had it in their hands. It was determined that Mason-Watts was responsible for another robbery last week. He is charged with both robberies and related offenses. The two officers are being praised for dissolving the situation peacefully. Watch the video of the situation below:

The Philadelphia Phillies made a few rearrangements in the front office today. David Montgomery will be returning to the team as Chairman, but not President. Pat Gillick will continue in the role of President of the team and Bill Giles will take the title of Chairman Emeritus. Montgomery had been away from the team recovering from cancer surgery. The team released a statement that said in part, "It is expected that in his role as Phillies Chairman, Montgomery will remain active in Philadelphia civic, business, sports, and charitable endeavors, and also will maintain his close association with Phillies fans, customers, and sponsors. He will continue to be very involved in Major League Baseball committees and projects, as well."

A Montgomery County woman is accused of stealing more than $10,000 from two Scout troops that she led. 30-year-old Heather Belford of Lansdale used the bank cards of Cub Scout Pack 27 and Girl Scout Troop 7343 of Upper Providence to make cash withdraws and personal purchases. She allegedly stole $3,411.28 from the Cub Scouts and $7,318.88 from the Girl Scouts in the spring of 2014 when she was the Committee Chair and troop leader. Belford turned herself in today and was arraigned. She is charged with felony theft, theft by deception, receiving stolen property, and access device fraud.
