Temple Student Dead From Fall, Tully Reward $10K +, Margate Dunes Project

An 18-year-old freshman at Temple University fell to her death from an 8th floor window Thursday night. She may have been sitting on the two foot wide ledge, possibly taking some pictures. Itâ€™s believed the student may have slipped as she was going back inside. The woman was visiting two friends at an Art Institute of Philadelphia dorm room when she fell just before 6 p.m. at the 1500 block of Chestnut Street. Both of the male students the victim was visiting were being questioned by police. The freshman hit a 44-year-old woman, who was walking on the 16th Street sidewalk. She was rushed to Hahnemann University Hospital. She suffered fracture vertebrae in her neck and had some teeth knocked out, but is expected to be okay. Police were obtaining a search warrant to look inside the dorm room. As of right now, there is no evidence to suggest foul play or suicide, but the investigation is ongoing.

The reward for a missing teacher has now surpassed $10,000. Christopher Tully, 40, of Philadelphia, has been missing since January 6th. Philadelphia Police say he has Bipolar Disorder and has not taken his medication. Tully has tought at the Middle Bucks Institute of Technology since 2002. Anyone with any information on Tullyâ€™s whereabouts is urged to contact the South Detective Division at 215-686-3013 or call 911.

The Army Corps of Engineers can proceed with awarding contracts for the construction of storm-protective sand dunes on the beach in Margate, despite the objections of residents and city officials who donâ€™t want them. In fact, the issue of actually building those dunes is still very much an open question. Margateâ€™s argument is that thereâ€™s no way to contest the administrative orders from the Christie Administration that seize beachfront land for those dunes, is at the crux of this fight. Itâ€™s thought the ruling might prompt the state and the city to work out a deal over how the seizure is being carried out. Because if they donâ€™t, the cityâ€™s free to return to federal court to try and stop those bulldozers.
