Reading Will Light Charlie Brown Tree; Drive Thru Sexual Assault; Cherry Hill Credit Card Theft

Reading is planning to light its Charlie Brown Christmas tree tomorrow (12/20/14). Reading, Pennsylvania is a nice little town. But it is one of the poorest cities in America. Reading took a sad looking 42 foot Norway spruce (pictured) from a local park for its downtown tree, and many locals don’t like it. Like the Charlie Brown tree, there has been just one red ball on the tree. Supportive residents and businesses have been donating decorations. And tomorrow, they hope the tree, after a little love, will bring some Christmas joy.

Upper Darby police have arrested a man who they say sexually assaulted a woman at a fast-food restaurant. At around 12:30 Thursday morning, a man walked-up to the McDonald's drive-through window at State Road and Lansdowne Avenue. Police say 23-year old Michael Jenkins began flirting with a 31-year old employee then started making crude remarks. When she tried to close the window, police say Jenkins reached in and grabbed her. Police say right after, Jenkins walked to a bar across the street where police found him and arrested him.

There has been a rash of credit card thefts in Cherry Hill. Thieves are swiping wallets and racking-up 'huge' credit card bills. Surveillance cameras caught a woman lifting a wallet from a shopper at Wegman's, then used the credit cards to buy more than $2,300 in merchandise at Best Buy and Walmart. A diner at Bahama Breeze lost his wallet to someone who spent more than $750 at Macy's and Target. Police say another thief struck at Panera Bread and used the credit cards at Nordstrom and Apple, charging more than 14,000. Another man swiped a credit card at the Christmas Tree Shop, and spent $335 dollars at Total Wine. Be extra cautious with your wallets and credit cards.
