Stockton College to Buy Showboat; Millville Boy Drowns in Fish Pond; Robber Uses Bloody Syringe

The former Showboat Casino on the Atlantic City boardwalk found a buyer today in Richard Stockton College of New Jersey. Stockton College in Absecon, NJ, entered into a purchasing plan with Caesars Entertainment. It plans to use the 28-acre, 1,425,000 square-foot facility as a satellite campus. Stockton President Herman Saatkamp could not reveal any more details such as price or closing date because of a confidentiality agreement. The Showboat was closed on August 31st.

A 15-month-old toddler may have accidentally drown in a goldfish pond at a Millville, NJ, daycare center Tuesday morning. Officers responded to the Sunshine Daycare on the 900 block of Shar Lane and found the unresponsive boy. 58-year-old Roxanne Lacy, owner of the daycare, told police that she went inside to tend to one of the six children she was caring for for a few moments. When she came back outside she noticed that one child was missing and found that the toddler had fallen into the one-foot-deep fish pond in the yard. Millville police are treating the case as a traumatic accident, but are still investigating along with the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office and New Jersey's Division of Child Protection and Permanency.

Philadelphia Police are asking the public's help in identifying a robbery suspect who was armed with a blood-filled syringe. The incident happened at 1:38 a.m. on Saturday at Eddie's restaurant on the 100 block of East Allegheny Avenue in Kensington. The unknown man approached a 32-year-old woman who was placing an order and then demanded money while pointing the syringe at her. The woman pulled $200 from her purse and the man grabbed it and fled. The suspect is described as a Hispanic or Dominican male, 30 to 35 years old, 5'10â€, with a dark complexion. He was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt and Adidas track pants. The incident was captured on surveillance video. Anyone with information should contact police at 215-686-TIPS (8477).
