Los Angeles Lakers guard Wayne Ellington Jr. has been granted an indefinite leave of absence from the team after his father was shot and killed Sunday in Philadelphia. The victim, identified as 57-year-old Wayne R. Ellington Sr., was found inside the driver side seat of a vehicle around 8 p.m. Sunday on the 5200 block of Marion Street in Germantown. Police say he was taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center where he later died. It's not known when Ellington will rejoin the team. There is no word on a suspect or motive at this time. Ellington Jr. played High School basketball at Episcopal Academy in Merion (now Newtown Square) and college at North Carolina. He has also played for the Minnesota Timberwolves, Memphis Grizzlies, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Dallas Mavericks.

Stiletto is a company co-founded by brothers Alex and Daniel Gladstone. The two brothers created a product that could help an abduction victim. It’s a charm to wear on a necklace or bracelet. In an event of an emergency, click the charm and it will contact 911 for you. Once you receive the charm, download an app on your cell phone and it will ask for a photo and your information. The charm makes it possible for 911 operators to know who you are, your location, hear what is going on, comes in a variety of colors and styles, and starts at $180. The company is taking pre-sale orders and the charms will be shipped out by March. For more information, log onto: http://stiletto.is/

Faster than a SEPTA bus? Kyle Cassidy and about 50 other runners raced the number 21 SEPTA bus along its route from Penn’s Landing to 43rd and Walnut. Cassidy says to beat the bus they needed to run 3.8 miles in about 30 minutes. At least 30 of those runners, including Cassidy, beat that time and the bus. The victorious runners celebrated at Pasqually’s Pizza.

Weather, November 12

Clearing skies. Warm. High 64 in Center City.
