Underground Old City Fire; Haverford High Football Coach DUI; Armed Robberies NE Philly Video

A ruptured gas main caused a severe underground fire in Old City yesterday. The first signs of the fire were seen around 9 a.m. near 4th and Race streets. The cause is thought to be from a construction crew hitting the main. Luckily it was a smaller 1" low pressure main and not a 8" high pressure pipe. Buildings along Race Street were forced to evacuate. No injuries have been reported and the area is now all clear.

Longtime football couch of Haverford High School, Joe Gallagher, was arrested for DUI and reckless-driving. He allegedly drove into another car in Prospect Park and fled the scene before law enforcement arrived. Gallagherâ€™s car was recognized later and pulled over where cops discovered an open beer container inside. Gallagher has taken a leave of absence from his position at Haverford High School and must face the consequences of his actions.

Police are on the hunt for an armed suspect responsible for several robberies in Northeast Philly. The suspect robbed a Fresh Works and a Getty Gas station on October 30th, and was armed with a knife. He demanded money but employees at both establishments refused. The suspect fled the scene without injuring anyone and is described as tall with a thin build and dark clothing.

The Flyers beat the Panthers last night and the Sixers play the Chicago Bulls tonight at 7.

Mostly sunny with some afternoon clouds, high of 51 in Center City.
