Germantown Woman Kidnapping on Video; Car Talk Host Dies; Tom Wolf Says No to Philly Dems

Philadelphia's Northwest Detectives Division is asking the public's help in identifying and locating a suspect who kidnapped a 22-year-old women in Germantown Sunday night. The incident happened around 9:40pm on the 100 block of West Coulter Street and was captured on surveillance video. A witness also saw the unknown suspect grab and drag Carlesha Freeland-Gaither, 22, down the street and force her into a dark sedan. Freeland-Gaither was struggling and yelling for help, she also kicked out the car's rear windows as it was pulling away. Her cellphone and glasses were dropped on the sidewalk before being forced into the car. She is described as a black female, 5'3", 125lbs, wearing a jean jacket and a grey and white sweater. The suspect was described as a black male, 5'10, medium-heavy build, 25-30 years-of-age, medium brown complexion, wearing a dark colored jacket with a dark colored hood possibly a hooded sweatshirt underneath, dark colored hat, and dark colored pants. The car is a 2000-2002 dark gray metallic 4-door Ford Taurus with both rear windows broken. Anyone with information is asked to contact Northwest Division Detectives at 215-686-3353/3354.

Tom Magliozzi, co-host of National Public Radio show "Car Talk," died on Monday of complications from Alzheimer's disease, the broadcast network said. He was 77. Tom and his brother Ray were known as "Click and Clack the Tappet Brothers" on the long running weekly call-in show on NPR that ran for over 30 years until the pair retired in 2012. They each graduated from MIT and together opened two automotive shops in the Boston area. Their shows were known for their equal parts humor and automotive advice. They taped their weekly shows at Boston public radio affiliate WBUR.

Pennsylvania Democratic candidate for governor Tom Wolf has declined to pay Philadelphia's ward leaders to mobilize election day â€œget out the voteâ€ operations around the city on election day. That's seriously bucking the trend. Every gubernatorial, even presidential, candidate pays the local party to send out poll-watching, door-knocking, leafletting, ride-giving workers to ensure the voters are mobilized in the state's overwhelmingly democratic epicenter. It's called 'street money' and it's entirely legal if reported correctly. The price asked of Tom Wolf? $340,000. He believes he can get people out to vote based on the issues, not last minute paid encouragement. That doesn't mean the money isn't going to show up from other parts of the democratic party. Voter turnout is always a concern. Former Gov. Ed Rendell already has raised $100,000 and U.S. Rep. Bob Brady says he'll probably find the rest.
