CDC To Track Travelers from West Africa; NBA Votes Against Lottery Reform; Arrest in NJ Toe-Squeezer

The CDC announced today that it will start tracking everyone entering the U.S. from Ebola-stricken nations. Those people will be monitored for symptoms of the disease for 21 days. This includes American aid workers, federal health employees and journalists, and West African visitors. 70% of people that arrive from Liberia, Sierra Leone and New Guinea enter in one of six states including Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The program will start on Monday in those states and extend to cover all incoming travelers in the coming days. Travelers will get a kit containing a thermometer and log with instructions. They'll have to report to officials at least once a day and seek proper medical attention if symptoms appear. Local and state officials will be in charge of performing the daily health checks. New York, Maryland, Virginia, and Georgia are the other states starting on Monday.

In a surprising move, the NBA's board of governors voted against lottery reform in favor of the status quo. The vote was expected to be a landslide for the changes, instead it only came out 17-13. 23 votes were needed. The changes to the draft lottery were proposed to help stop so called 'tanking.' Currently, the odds of landing the top draft spot are high for the team with the worst record. The reform would have drastically reduced those odds. Sixers' GM Sam Hinke has made the team's rebuilding strategy known. He is willing to sacrifice a few seasons in the standings if that means landing at the top of the draft selection each spring to stock up on young talent. The board may revisit this again soon, but the 2015 draft will remain the way it is. The Sixers start the season next week and are picked to finish last winning 15 games.

Police have arrested a man who squeezed a woman's toes in a supermarket parking lot earlier this month. The incident happened on October 4th outside the ShopRite in Mount Laurel, NJ. A woman was loading groceries into her car when a man approached her and complimented her on her toes. The man then allegedly squeezed two of them telling her he was obsessed with toes. She told him to stop touching her and he ran off. 30-year-old Derrick Johnson Jr., of Mount Laurel was arrested on Tuesday, October 21 and charged with harassment. He was released pending a court hearing.
