Pocono State Troopers Injured, Facebook Apology To Drag Queens, SEPTA Train Hits Delco Man

State police say two troopers have suffered injuries while searching for the fugitive suspected of ambushing a northeastern Pennsylvania barracks. Trooper Connie Devens says a Medivac helicopter has been requested for two troopers following an accident Wednesday night. She says the injuries are non-life threatening. A massive manhunt has been underway for 31-year-old Eric Frein in the rugged terrain of the Pocono Mountains since Sept. 12. The self-taught survivalist is charged with killing Cpl. Bryon Dickson and seriously wounding Trooper Alex Douglass outside their barracks in Blooming Grove.

Facebook is apologizing to drag queens and the transgender community for deleting accounts that used drag names like Lil Miss Hot Mess rather than legal names such as Bob Smith. Facebook caught heat recently when it deleted several hundred accounts belonging to self-described drag queens, other performers and members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. Facebook has long required its users to go by their “real names” on the site for security purposes, to stand out from other social networks and so it can better target advertising to people. Now, the company says the spirit of its policy doesn’t mean a person’s legal name but “the authentic name they use in real life.”

Rail service was suspended along SEPTA’s Wilmington-Newark Line after a person was hit by a train in Delaware County. It happened around 5:45 p.m. Wednesday near the Sharon Hill station. The male who was struck was taken to the hospital. SEPTA says about 500 passengers were aboard the train at the time of the accident. None were injured.

Weather, October 2

Partly Cloudy. High 72 in Center City.
