The grieving process is underway in the Council Rock School District in Bucks County where three teenagers were killed over the holiday weekend in a one-car crash in the Poconos. Sophomore students Cullen Keffer, Shamus Digney, Ryan Lesher were killed late Saturday morning when the Suburban SUV the boys were passengers in flipped in Paupack Township where Ryan’s family had a home. Despite the Labor Day holiday, Council Rock High School South was open for a few hours for students, staff, and families to begin coping with the tragedy that rocked this community just days before school bells ring in the new year. State police are still investigating the crash.

Cole Hamels and three Philadelphia Phillies relievers combined to pitch a no-hitter Monday, beating the Atlanta Braves 7-0. Hamels (8-6) was pulled after six innings. Relievers Jake Diekman, Ken Giles and closer Jonathan Papelbon each pitched a hitless inning to finish off the fourth no-hitter in the majors this season.

From sheet metal workers to teachers, union members marched along Columbus Boulevard this morning to celebrate Labor Day. Hundreds of workers, each wearing their union’s colored t-shirts took to the street in an annual display of solidarity. Including health insurance , sick leave and work rules. For many union leaders, the parade served as a political rally to energize the base for this fall’s governor’s race.
