Whole Foods Evacuated; Active Shooter at Fort Lee; Bethlehem Musikfest Changes After Violence

For the second time this month, shoppers and employees were evacuated from the Whole Foods store in Plymouth Meeting. Yesterday a suspicious package was found in the store around 1 pm. Police were called to the scene and evacuated Whole Foods and several surrounding stores for about 90 minutes. On August 8th, the same store was evacuated because of a bomb threat.

All clear was reported in Fort Lee, VA after an active shooter had been reported at the Army base. The base was on lockdown and personnel enacted active shooter protocols. The four story building involved is the headquarters for the Armyâ€™s Combined Arms Support Command. The Department of Homeland Security uses the term â€œactive Shooterâ€ to describe someone actively trying to kill people with no pattern of choosing victims.

Officials in Bethlehem are considering changes to Musikfest after several violent incidents at or near the popular summer music festival. On August 5 a dispute between two groups led to a double shooting. There was also a separate shooting and an assault with brass knuckles reported. Organizers may shorten festival hours and install brighter lights for public safety.
