Mt. Airy Ambulance Crash; South Jersey Hotel Price Gouging; Frankford Chinese Attack on Video

Six people were hospitalized in a crash involving an ambulance carrying a patient this morning in East Mount Airy. It happened just after 8:30 a.m. at Chew Avenue and Washington Lane. The ambulance was approaching the intersection with its lights and siren on when a SUV pulled around a red Chevrolet and into the path of the ambulance. The SUV and ambulance ended up on the sidewalk, crashing into a laundromat with apartments above. The patient was injured further, along with the ambulance driver and paramedic, the driver of the SUV and the woman and her passenger in the red Chevy. The laundromat was condemned by inspectors due to a ruptured gas line and a damaged support beam. The residents of the two apartments cannot return until it is fixed. None of the injuries were life-threatening. There have not been any charges filed at this time.

A South Jersey hotel has agreed to pay over $64,000 as a settlement over allegations of price gouging in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy. State officials claim, Amy Hotels, which did business as Econo Lodge in Egg Harbor Township, raised room rates 150% to $199.99 per night after a state of emergency was declared. Room rates were $79.99 per night before Gov. Chris Christie made the declaration. The state's gouging law prohibits excessive price increases during a declared state of emergency for products/services used as a direct result of an emergency or used to protect the life, health, safety or comfort of persons or their property. The state has resolved 23 of the 27 lawsuits filed against businesses that allegedly engaged in price gouging since Superstorm Sandy collecting more than $1 million in civil penalties, customer restitution, and state attorney's fees. In this case, nearly $25,000 will go towards customer restitution.

A violent, unprovoked attack was caught on tape inside a Lucky Garden Chinese restaurant last week in the Frankford neighborhood of Philadelphia. It happened around 11:30 pm on August 12th at the store on the 4600 block of Frankford Avenue. The victim was inside the store when the suspect walked in and asked for a light for his cigarette. The victim refused but the man next to him offered one and the man left. Moments later the suspect returned and sucker punched the man in the face. As he continued to assault him a second suspect entered the store and pick-pocketed the man's wallet. The two suspects then left the store together. Suspect #1 is described as a black male, 25-30 years-of-age, with a stocky build and a light brown complexion. He was wearing a red Phillies t-shirt with â€œWerth 28â€ on the back and black shorts and white shoes. Suspect #2 is described as a black male, 20-25 years-of-age, 5â€™8â€ with a thin build. He was wearing a black t-shirt, jeans and black shoes. Anyone with information should contact police.
