One person was rescued after their SUV went off the roadway and plunged into Cobbs Creek this afternoon in Southwest Philadelphia. It happened this afternoon around 3:15 pm near Cobbs Creek Parkway and Greenway Avenue. The woman driver veered off the roadway, perhaps suffering a medical emergency, and plunged into the creek below. The vehicle landed upside down and rescuers and civilians had to turn it in order to free the woman. She was taken to Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

It's Move In Day for many college freshman and a return to campus for upperclassmen across the city and surrounding areas. Temple University freshmen were busy Tuesday afternoon getting dropped off and settled into their new college lives on North Broad Street. Temple is welcoming it's largest class ever at 4500 students. Villanova and other schools will begin moving in new students tomorrow with orientations taking place this week. Classes for most colleges begin next Monday. Welcome to Philadelphia everyone!

Philadelphia Police have identified the suspect killed during a shootout with police early Tuesday morning in the city's Tacony section. 29-year-old David Ellis of Frankford was shot and killed after opening fire on officers. It happened at 12:45 a.m. Tuesday in the 6400 block of Ditman Street. Police were responding to a call of a man with a gun when they spotted Ellis who matched the description. Ellis immediately opened fire on police. 14-year veteran Officer Stephen Korpalski was grazed in the head by a bullet and taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center. The married father of a three-week-old daughter was released around 7 a.m. Ellis was pronounced dead at 1:35 a.m. at Aria Torresdale Hospital. Ellis has eight prior arrests. "He has a pretty violent history, robbery, sexual assault, violations of the Uniform Firearms Act, narcotics," Philadelphia Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey said.
