Oscar winning actor Robin Williams was found dead of an apparent suicide in his home Monday. CBS released this statement: "Our world has lost a comic genius, a gifted actor and a beautiful man. We will remember Robin Williams as one of the unique talents of his time who was loved by many, but also as a kind, caring soul, who treated his colleagues and co-workers with great affection and respect. Our heartfelt thoughts and sympathies go out to his family, loved ones and friends." Robin Williams was 63 years old.

Marin County Sheriff Report

Sixty years after returning from war, a Northeast Philadelphia man gets the medal he deserves. As a soldier during the Korean Conflict in 1953, 82-year-old William “Ron” Arpino was wounded in battle in Paugol and earned the Silver Star and Purple Heart for his service. However, he declined the honor because he didn’t want to have his mother notified and know he was injured. Now in hospice at Holy Redeemer Hospital, a family friend spearheaded a campaign to ensure the former Army Sergeant was finally recognized. A pinning ceremony was held Monday at the hospital in Meadowbrook, Pa. Family members, staff, and several members of the Chalfont VFW Post 3258 looked on as Veteran Arpino was honored.

Police in Delaware are warning residents of a recent phone scam. New Castle County Police say they have received reports from residents stating they have received calls from a person claiming to be an officer from the New Castle County Sheriff’s Office. The unknown caller(s) are using the actual number from the Sheriff’s Office and have used Sheriff Trinidad Navarro’s name. A victim reported the suspect had a “strong accent” and requested she purchase a pre-paid credit card or a warrant would be issued for her arrest. The victim realized this was a scam, researched the telephone number on the internet and then called 911. New Castle County Police is asking residents to report any suspicious telephone calls from people claiming to be a law enforcement officer or agent. Police say residents should know that law enforcement officials will not request money in lieu of an arrest.
