Drexel Hill Murder, Abduction, NY Suicide; Jonestown Remains in DE; Reward Increase Pennypack Murder

An Amber Alert was triggered early this morning after two children were taken from their Drexel Hill home by their father, 31-year-old Keith Belajonas, after he allegedly killed his wife, 28-year-old Christina Corrigan Belajonas. The man and two sons ended up in Staten Island, NY, where he held up a CVS, leaving his kids with his brother who works there. Belajonas fled the scene and police found him dead inside his vehicle on a dead end street of an apparent self inflicted gunshot wound to the head. The incident began around 2:30 a.m. at the suspect's home on the 200 block of Abbey Terrace in Drexel Hill. Police arrived to find a woman stabbed muliple times and shot in the head in a second floor apartment. Witnesses said that Belajonas fled with his two sons in a gray Nissan Pathfinder. The alert was issued at 4:30 a.m. At 6:30 a.m. a man matching his description held up the CVS store on Victory Boulevard in Staten Island, New York City. His brother works at that store and he left the two boys there and fled. New York City police found him inside his vehicle a short time later. A post on Belajonas' Facebook page reads "Had an argument with her. She was cheating on me. I won." The two boys appeared to be unharmed.

The cremated remains of 9 people who died in the 1978 mass suicide and murder in Jonestown, Guyana in South America have been found in a former funeral home in Delaware. Officials from the state's Division of Forensic Science were called to the site of the Minus Funeral Home in Dover after 38 containers of remains were discovered. Thirty-three have been identified and marked, including those from Jonestown. On Nov. 18, 1978, 918 members of the Peoples Temple Agricultural Project, whose leader was Jim Jones, died after drinking punch poisoned with cyanide. Many drank willingly but some were forced to or shot. The bodies of 911 victims were flown to Dover Air Force base.

The reward has increased for information leading to an arrest in in the murder of 46-year-old Connie Murray in Pennypack Park earlier this week. A $15,000 reward was issued by the Philadelphia Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) Lodge 5 and the Philadelphia Federal Credit Union. $10k is being offered by FOP President John McNesby and FOP Lodge 5 membership. $5k is being offered by Mike McAllister and the members of the Philadelphia Federal Credit Union. The City of Philadelphia is offering a $20,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case. The Citizens Crime Commission has offered an additional $1k to that reward. The reward total is now $36,000. Murray left her home in Holme Circle for a jog on Monday at 9:00 p.m. and never returned. She was found strangled to death at 6 a.m. Tuesday in the park near Crispin Rec Center. Her phone is missing and is turned off.
