Amber Alert - Murder in Drexel Hill; Mummers Route Change; Hamels and Byrd Claimed on Trade Waivers

An amber alert was issued this morning for two boys aged 4 and 6 after their mother was found dead in Drexel Hill. The woman was found shot in the head at her apartment, perhaps killed by her husband, identified as 32 year old Keith Belajonas. They left the scene in a dark gray Nissan X-Terra SUV with PA license plate JDH7477.

UPDATE: The man who shot and killed his wife this morning in Drexel Hill and abducted his two sons has been found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot in Staten, Island New York. 32 year old Keith Belajonas killed his wife, drove the two boys aged 4 and 6 to relatives in New York, left alone and drove to parking lot where he shot himself in the head. The two boys are safe and being evaluated.

The Mummers are considering changing the parade route. They’d like to start the annual New Year's Day parade at the judging stand at City Hall and shorten the route to end on Washington Avenue. Tom Loomis, the head of the Philadelphia String Band Association says the change is a reaction to dwindling crowds along the route and to keep this Philly institution from growing stale.

The Phillies’ Cole Hamels and Marlon Byrd have been claimed on revocable trade waivers by another team according to a report by Fox Sports Ken Rosenthal. The Phillies have 48 hours to work out a deal with the team or pull them back. Rosenthal tweeted that the team would likely wait until the off-season when they could engage 29 teams in negotiation – not just one.

Sports
The Phillies go for the sweep of the Houston Astros tonight.

Weather
Sunny today. 85 in Center City.
