A portion of the Delaware river in Philadelphia turned green Tuesday. Dr. Chris Crocket of the Philadelphia Water Department said it was a perfectly safe fluorescent compound used for surface and groundwater studies. The green plume extended from Susquehanna to Washington Avenue for a few hours on Tuesday. They're laying the groundwork for a detailed computer model that will allow the city to find ways to improve water quality and keep a closer eye on the salt line.

Donald Trump filed a lawsuit on Tuesday demanding that his name be stripped from the remaining two Atlantic City casinos that still bear his name, five years after he gave up anything to do with running them. He told The Associated Press he sued Trump Entertainment Resorts, a descendant of a corporate entity he once controlled, because it has allowed its two Atlantic City casinos, the Trump Plaza and the Trump Taj Mahal, to fall into disrepair, tarnishing his personal brand and confusing customers.

A Chester County man is facing animal cruelty charges for allegedly tying up a kitten and giving it heroin. Early Sunday morning West Goshen Township police came upon 24-year-old James Myers of West Goshen. Myers was in his parked car in the middle of the road on Dunwoody Drive near Phoenixville Pike. Officers found the 10-week-old kitten just under the car bleeding, with a rope around it's neck, and missing several teeth. IT may have been dragged or slammed into the ground. A message had been spray painted on the road "Slam it you @$&!" They also found around 50 hypodermic needles, several bags of heroin, hundreds of used bags, rope, and and a box for the cat in his car. The kitten was rushed to Hope Veterinary Specialists where the veterinarian on duty was able to revive the cat using Narcan, which is usually given to human overdose victims. Myers is facing both animal cruelty and drug charges. He is being held on $25,000 bail.

Chaka Fattah Jr. is now free after signing his own bond, following his indictment on charges of financial fraud and wrongdoing including filing false tax returns, making false bank statements to get loans, and cheating the Philadelphia School District through inflated invoices from a company he owned that provided educational services. Chaka Fattah Jr., the son of US representative Chaka Fattah (D-Pa.), turned himself in to federal investigators Tuesday morning. Fattah Jr. is charged in a federal indictment with multiple counts, in a scheme the indictment says was intended to defraud banks and the IRS of hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Weather

Partly Cloudy. Scattered thunderstorms this afternoon. High 85 in Center City.
