Bees Swarm PA Turnpike Interchange; Trolley Knockout Suspect Surrenders; Philadelphia Nazi Arrested

Swarms of bees were buzzing around a Pennsylvania Turnpike Interchange this morning and into the afternoon causing quite a ruckus. The honey bees swarmed the light fixtures near Lane 9 at the Valley Forge interchange Exit 328 in King of Prussia. Authorities were forced to redirect traffic and change those cash tolls to EZ-Pass only. If the honey bees continue to cause a disturbance they will be removed and relocated. As a protected 'pollinator' species, they cannot just be killed.

The teen suspect in last week's 'knockout game' attack at an Upper Darby trolley stop has surrendered to police. 18-year-old Trent Epps of Huntley Road has been been charged with simple assault, terroristic threats, recklessly endangering another person and harassment. Epps is being held on $100,000 cash bail. His mother ultimately convinced him to turn himself in to police. Epps is the one shown on video sucker-punching a 58-year-old homeless man in the face after being egged on by three of his friends. That attack happened last Wednesday at SEPTA's Aronimink trolley stop. The cell phone video was uploaded to Facebook and police were alerted by concerned citizens who had then seen the footage. The three other teens are still on the loose.

An 89-year-old Philadelphia man was arrested today and ordered held without bail on a German arrest warrant. Johann "Hans" Breyer is charged with aiding and abetting the killing of 216,000 Jewish men, women and children while he was a guard at the Auschwitz concentration camp. The warrant was issued in Weiden, Germany for 158 counts of complicity of murder, 1 count for each trainload of Nazi prisoners killed at Auschwitz-Birkenau between May 1944 and October 1944. Breyer admits to being a guard at Auschwitz in Poland during World War II, but says he was stationed outside and did not have anything to do with the killing going on behind the gates. Breyer retains American citizenship from his mother who was a U.S. citizen. Past efforts to strip his citizenship failed due to the fact that he was enlisted into the SS as a minor and not legally responsible for his participation. He now faces extradition and trial in Germany for Nazi war crimes.
