DJ Dave Herman Dies in Jail, PATCO Bridge Project, School Budget Denied

Former Philadelphia radio personality, Dave Herman has died in jail. Herman, 78 years old was in custody in a New Jersey jail awaiting trial on charges in a child-sex sting. He was rushed to the hospital Wednesday night from the county jail after complaining of chest pains. Dave Herman introduced the album rock format on the FM dial in Philadelphia in the late 60's on WMMR with a show he called The Marconi Experiment.

PATCO will run on a revised schedule on the Ben Franklin Bridge as a massive track rehab project gets underway today. The tracks on the south side of the bridge will be shut down for 60 days. Running both directions on one track, schedules will be revised through the end of July causing major delays for riders and traffic on the Ben Franklin.

Parents of Philadelphia schoolchildren are applauding the move by William R. Hite to defy the City Charter, refusing to adopt a budget for the 2014/2015 school year. Hite tweeted during the meeting last night that quality schools need sufficient funding. No word on when discussions will resume to work on a new budget plan.
