Three Teens ID'd in Pleasantville Crash; 5000 Lose Power Center City; $10 Counterfeit Couple Arrest

Police have identified the three teenagers who died yesterday when a car crashed into a New Jersey Transit Bus in Pleasantville, Atlantic County. Tevin Campbell, 18, of Absecon, Kira Strider, 14, of Pleasantville and Amber Fernandez, 16, of Pleasantville were all passengers in the car. Campbell and Strider were pronounced dead at the scene. Fernandez was taken to the hospital but died shortly after midnight Tuesday. The crash took place at 1:50 in the afternoon on Franklin Boulevard near the intersection of Old Turnpike Road when the red Camry, driven by 18-year-old Melissa Rodriguez of Pleasantville, crossed the center line and collided head-on with the Route 502 NJ Transit bus. There were five teenagers in the car. One is listed in critical condition and the driver is in stable condition. The bus' 10 occupants were treated for minor injuries. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the accident.

Multiple underground transformer explosions and fires knocked out electricity to thousands in Center City this afternoon. Approximately 4,000-5,000 customers lost power due to the transformer malfunctions. PECO, Philadelphia police, and fire crews responded to the incidents which were first reported just before 3:30pm. The first location was at 13th and Spruce Streets. Additional problems were reported at 15th and Walnut streets and 17th and Callowhill streets. Pierce College was forced to cancel all classes for the remainder of the day/night and close all offices. PECO is working on fixing the issues.

A Montgomery County, PA, couple is under arrest after a counterfeit $10 bill led police to discover even more at their home. Last Thursday, 35-year-old Angela Mazzoni passed the phony $10 at the Rita's Water ice on Easton Road in Glenside. After it was tested, authorities executed a search warrant on the Mazzoni's home on Johnston Avenue in Roslyn at 7:45 Friday evening. They found and seized 265 counterfeit $10 bills plus $6,000 in authentic cash. Angela and her husband, 35-year-old David, were taken into custody and charged with forgery, possessing counterfeit US currency, and other charges.
