Harrington Student Dies, Andrew Jackson Student Dies, Montco Water Boil Advisory

An eighth grade student died Wednesday afternoon after collapsing during gym class, at Harrington Middle School in Mount Laurel, NJ. The student collapsed during routine activity and the school’s crisis team immediately responded, followed by police and EMTs. He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Philadelphia school district officials say a first grade student has died after collapsing in a classroom Wednesday afternoon at the Andrew Jackson School in South Philadelphia. A nurse was not on-duty at the time of the incident. The school’s part-time nurse is there on Thursdays and every other Friday. The seven-year-old boy was rushed to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia where he was pronounced dead. There is no word on what caused the child to collapse.

A boil water advisory remains in effect for Pennsylvania American Water customers in parts of Montgomery County. That includes East Norriton Township, West Norriton Township, Lower Providence Township, Whitpain Township, Worcester Township and Whitemarsh Township. Workers will test the water Wednesday and Thursday. If the tests on both days come back clean, the boil water advisory could be lifted, by Friday. If the test shows bacteria is in the water, the advisory could extend into the weekend.
