A 4-year-old boy was struck and killed in Chester Saturday afternoon. The boy was returning home after attending funeral services for his father, who was shot and killed last Saturday afternoon. The little boy, Carder Hardy, exited a parked car at 11th and Upland Streets in Chester, PA around 5 p.m. He jumped out of the car and into the path of an on-coming white van. The driver of the van could not stop in time. He did stay at the scene and answered investigators' questions. It appears to be a tragic accident. The boy was taken to Crozer-Chester Medical Center but pronounced dead on arrival. Earlier in the day, Carder and family had attended the funeral of the boy's father, 38-year-old Derek Brown. Derek was shot and killed in Chester last weekend. Investigators believe he was an innocent bystander.

A person was struck and killed Saturday night on the Schuylkill Expressway. The person was walking on I-76 westbound when they were reportedly hit by a City of Philadelphia vehicle. It happened at 10pm near Montgomery Drive. The driver of that city vehicle stayed at the scene. The highway was shutdown and caused traffic to backup for miles. Reports say the pedestrian was a motorist helping another with a disabled vehicle.

The NCAA Frozen Four finished up in South Philadelphia tonight with the tiny Union College Dutchmen of Schenectady, NY, upsetting the University of Minnesota Gophers 7-4 at the Wells Fargo Center to win their first NCAA Hockey Championship. Union beat Boston College in the semifinals on Thursday to make the finals; Minnesota edged out North Dakota on Thursday to advance to tonight. Union defensemen Shayne Gostisbehere of Margate, FL, is a Philadelphia Flyer prospect. He scored the first goal and added 2 assists to finish the night +7 on the ice. Gostisbehere was named "Most Outstanding Player of the 2014 Frozen Four". The small school from upstate New York plays in Division III in all other sports expect Hockey. The NCAA, participating teams, and fans (both local and those traveling in) all say the tournament held in Philadelphia was a huge success.
