A teenager was shot and killed this morning in Northeast Philadelphia by an intruder. 19-year-old Shaquelle Abraham was shot once in the chest by the suspect who entered the apartment, fired, and left without taking anything. It happened after 10am on a second floor apartment in the home at 9418 Fairgreen Lane. The victim's girlfriend was able to call police while hiding inside a closet. Abraham grew up in that home and was planning to move out on his own. Police do not yet have a motive or a description of the suspect, but did say a 4-door red Volvo was seen fleeing the scene. His mother had to be cared for by medics after collapsing upon hearing the news outside the home.

No new contract talks have been scheduled between SEPTA and the Transport Workers’ Union (TWU) Local 234 since the contract expired at midnight Sunday. As of now the union is not going to strike and workers will go to work under terms of the expired contract. They have yet to even take a strike authorization vote. SEPTA has offered a two-year deal that includes raises of two percent the first year and three percent in the second year. It would also require workers to contribute an additional one percent of their wages to health-care premiums. TWU does not want any changes to worker's health-care contributions. SEPTA calls this its 'final offer' and is waiting the union's response.

Fire officials in New Jersey say that a brush fire has now been contained. The fire was deemed so at 4 pm Monday, about 24 hours after it was first spotted. The fire was located in the Wharton State Forest in the pinelands. People reported smelling this fire as far away as Philadelphia and New York City. It burned an area of about 1,600 acres. The incoming rain will continue to put out areas that still may be burning.

Tonight,
Rain and thunder, temperatures in the low 50's this evening in Center City
