Wedding Crasher Thief Pleads Guilty; Keystone XL Protesters Arrested; PSPCA Says Animal is Feline

The so called 'wedding crasher thief' has plead guilty to stealing cash and gifts from two different weddings last June. 35-year-old Joseph Patrick Franzone Jr. of Bridgeport plead guilty today in Montgomery County Court to theft and attempted theft charges. On June 9th 2013, he stole the card cage containing $3000-$5000 from the William Penn Inn in Lower Gwynedd Township. On June 22nd, Franzone took the card box containing about $9,000 from a wedding at the RiverCrest Golf Club in Upper Providence Township. Surveillance video from the William Penn Inn shows him casing the place beforehand and loading the cage into a car. The car turned out to be borrowed from his girlfriend. When police searched it they found an envelope from a wedding guest. Franzone remains in county jail without bail. He faces 12 to 24 year in prison at sentencing.

Around 40 environmental activists stood in front of the doors to the William J. Green federal building in Center City Philadelphia this afternoon to protest to Keystone XL oil pipeline. Police began to arrest the protestors throughout the afternoon while supporters cheered and chanted nearby. The proposed 1,179-mile pipeline from Canada to Texas would create jobs and reduce our dependance on foreign oil. Those against the pipeline fear the possibility of pipeline accidents, but they are also against the use of oil in general as it contributes to global warming. Around 30 people were arrested during their act of civil disobedience.

The Pennsylvania SPCA believes that the mutilated animal found on a vacant lot in Brewerytown is a large feline. It was discovered by a man walking his dog near 30th and Jefferson streets on Sunday. The carcass was in a trash bag and the tools used to skin the animal were wrapped up in a blanket nearby. Officers found bloody scalpels, rubber gloves, and a baking soda-like substance. The animal had been totally skinned with the ears and paws removed. It weighed around 55 lbs. It does not appear to be a domestic dog or cat, but rather a large feline, such as a bobcat. On Monday morning, the PSPCA received a phone call from a man claiming to be a licensed hunter saying that he shot and killed the animal and skinned it while performing a taxidermy. No further details are provided, but the manner this animal was skinned took time and skill. Surveillance video shows a dark blue truck pulling up and dumping the trash bag with the body. The investigation continues.
