The masked suspect wanted in a bank robbery and two attempted robberies in Delaware County in January has been arrested. 29-year-old Blair Thomas, Jr. from East Lansdowne has been charged with the three crimes. On January 22nd he attempted to rob both the Yeadon and Darby Post offices. He was armed with a .45-caliber Ruger handgun and was wearing a distinctive rubber mask. The very next day, January 23rd, he successfully robbed the Wells Fargo branch at 888 Baltimore Pike in Springfield. He made off with $1,890. If convicted, Thomas faces 30 years in prison.

CSX released their findings following last month's train derailment on the Schuylkill Arsenal Railroad Bridge in Philadelphia. According to CSX, an upgrade had been performed on the tracks replacing crossties. The workers did not follow engineering protocols and failed to properly secure the fasteners to the ties. On January 20th, an oil train derailed leaving several cars leaning off the side of the bridge for days. The crude oil had to be emptied before the cars could be removed from the bridge. CSX reports that the bridge is structurally sound. The Federal Railroad Administration will review CSX's findings.

Crozer-Keystone Health System announced that it will lay off 250 employees. Crozer blames 'changes in health-care' that has lead to a $15.7 million loss since July 1. Factors for that loss include reduced admissions, decreased government funding, reduced payments from insurers, and more patients with no insurance or Medicaid that pays half that of commercial insurers. Crozer-Keystone has attempted to cut costs to avoid the layoffs but have not been able to do enough. The layoffs do include doctors and managers. Everyone will receive severance and benefits. Crozer-Keystone, the biggest health-care provider in Delaware County, employed 6,800 workers.
