Trenton's mayor has been removed from office and replaced after a corruption conviction. Mayor Tony Mack was convicted February 7th and a new acting Mayor has been named. He is George Muschal (muh-SHELL), a former city council president. Muschal was sworn in yesterday in a private ceremony and the 66 year old retired police officer says he has no intention of seeking a full term at election time in May.

Governor Corbett is having a medical procedure today to repair a hernia. The laparoscopic surgery will mean he will temporarily turn over the reins of power to Lt. Gov. Jim Cawley. It is expected Corbett will be under general anesthesia for about an hour. Corbett expects to recuperate for a few days at home and return to work Monday.

The wife of the Penn professor who died after a fall in a SEPTA train station stairwell wants the mass transit authority to admit responsibility. The 71 year old professor, Ellis Golub of Bryn Mawr died on January 22nd after he fell avoiding a ladder in the stairwell of the 40th Street station of the Market Frankford line. A SEPTA electrician was on the ladder changing light bulbs.
