Murder-Suicide in North Philly; Main Line Jewelry Heist; 2 dead in Burning Minivan; Hazmat in MontCo

Philadelphia police are investing after two people were found shot inside a home in North Philadelphia on Saturday. They responded to a report of shooting at 2624 West Somerset Street around 2:30 in the afternoon. A 40-year-old man was found shot in the head and a 30-year-old woman was found shot in the chest. Both were declared dead at the scene. It appears to be a murder-suicide but they are investigating. Family members and others had gathered outside in the street during the investigation and a fight broke out prompting several arrests.

Armed robbers brazenly walked into a Main Line jewelry store this evening during business hours in a smash-and-grab robbery. It happened at the Govberg Jewelers at Suburban Square in Ardmore around 6:30 pm. Two armed men and four accomplices entered the store together. They tasered the security guard and took his gun. They then smashed cases and grabbed the expensive contents. The bandits quickly fled in a white van. Philadelphia Police found that van abandoned in West Philadelphia. Back at the scene, Lower Merion Police do have a lot of surveillance video to come through both from Govberg and neighboring store in the outdoor mall. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured.

Two bodies were found inside a burning minivan in Frankford on Saturday morning. Firefighters were called to the 4600 block of Trenton Avenue at 4:00 a.m. because of a vehicle engulfed in fire. Once extinguished, crews were shocked to discover the two bodies inside, both burned beyond recognition. Police are treating this as a homicide The remains have gone to the medical examiner's office to try to identify the persons and to determine cause of death.

A 43-year-old man in Montgomery County caused a hazardous material situation whilst attempting to take his own life. The man was mixing chemicals inside his home on Archbishop Drive in Conshohocken (near Butler Pike and North Ln) around 10:45 Saturday morning. He suffered chemical burns and needed to be decontaminated before being transferred to Temple University Hospital. Emergency officials told residents in the little neighborhood to remain inside and closed off North Lane, which borders Plymouth Township. Hazmat authorities were able to decontaminate the area and declare it safe at around 4 p.m.
