| Record Breaking Winter Storm; Lawncrest Triple Murder; Snow Emergency Continues Tonight |

We are currently in the middle of the latest winter storm to dump significant snow on the area and this one has helped make history. After this morning's accumulations a 130-year-old record was broken. For the first time in history there have been four snowfalls over 6+ inches in one season. This season has also moved up into the top 5 all time snowiest winters at 53.1". (see below) After tonight's second round of snow, this year could slide up to the third snowiest season on record for Philadelphia.
Philadelphia Police are investigating a triple shooting inside a home in the Lawncrest section. Officers responded to the home on the 6300 block of Martins Mill Road around 3:30 on Thursday. Three males, shot in the head execution style, were found dead inside. The victims appeared to be in their 20's. Two men, also in their 20's, were seen running from the scene. Anyone with information is asked to contact Philadelphia Police.
UPDATE: Police believe that the murders were drug-related. They are looking into any connection to the murders of the Jan. 19 killing of Donna Walter Muller and her son, Richard, in their home on the 300 block of Stevens Street about a mile away. They have released the name of one victim, 25-year-old Keurlin Charles, who lived at the home with his parents. Charles and one of the victims were found with their hands duct taped. The third man was not. A $60,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction has been offered in the case. Anyone with information is asked to call the Homicide Unit at 215-686-3334.
Mayor Nutter reminded citizens Thursday that the snow emergency in Philadelphia continues as the snow will continue into tonight. If you park on a snow emergency routes before the emergency is lifted (even if it has been plowed) you will still be ticketed and towed. The City of Philadelphia offices will be closed again on Friday. Public and archdiocesan schools will also be closed. Compared to last week's major power outages, today PECO is only reporting minor scattered outages. Only about 1000 customers had lost power Thursday morning, compared to 700,000 last week.
