Villanova Power Heat Restored; Phillies Equipment Truck En Route; Fed State of Emergency Declared PA

Villanova University announced that electricity and heat have been restored to Main Campus, West Campus, and the Athletics Complex. Classes will resume on Monday, February 10th. Friday night's Men's Basketball game against Seton Hall will be played as scheduled. Yesterday, school officials were left to cancel classes for the rest of the week as a result of campus-wide outages and no timeframe for repairs. Buildings only have emergency generators for lighting and fire alarms. An emergency generator was installed in Dougherty Hall to provide heat, hot meals, water, and a way for students to charge their devices.

Pitchers and catchers are due to report down in Clearwater, FL in just six days. In order to get out ahead of the player's arrival, the Phillies' equipment managers have loaded up the tractor-trailer and set out on the road today. Some items include 2,400 baseballs, 1,200 bats, 100's of t-shirts (long and short sleeved), even some of the player's golf clubs and their kids toys. Dan O’Rourke, the Phillies’ manager of equipment and umpire services, says they start planning for the trip at the end of the season. They inventory the club house and place orders in November. The truck will pull in to Bright House Field about Saturday morning.

President Obama has declared a state of emergency in Pennsylvania. Gov. Tom Corbett says assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency will help to supply generators for hospitals and nursing homes. At it's peak, 849,000 residents were without power. That number has dropped significantly but some may not see power restored until Friday or the weekend. Gov. Corbett said "This storm is in some respects as bad or maybe even worse than Hurricane Sandy."

Tonight,
Mostly Cloudy, temperatures in the upper 20's this evening in Center City
