Gov. Christie Adresses Bridgegate, Weather Caused Power Outages, Kingsessing Shooting

Gov. Chris Christie said Monday he may have heard about congestion on the George Washington Bridge last fall but it didn't register as anything more than regular traffic jams because he wasn't aware his aides had ordered lanes blocked, apparently for political retribution. Christie also acknowledged during an hour-long radio call-in program that his office has been subpoenaed by federal law enforcement officials conducting a criminal investigation into the bridge scandal. Christie, 51, reiterated during the radio show that he did not know about the planning or execution of the lane closings near the bridge in Fort Lee.

Thousands of power outages have been reported in the Philadelphia area due to the wintry weather. PECO had a total of 50,000 outages, and was scheduled to work through the night to restore power. PSE&G reported as many as 3,000 customers without power due to the wet, heavy snow Monday. PPL Electric Utilities is reporting scattered outages. Delmarva and Atlantic City Electric say they have no outages.

A man is hospitalized in critical condition following a shooting in Kingsessing. It happened at 7:32 p.m. Monday on the 5500 block of Malcolm Street. Philadelphia Police say a 41-year-old man was shot three times on his right side. He was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where he is listed in critical condition.
