Delco Weather Related Deaths; Phillies Alumni Guest Instructors; Camden Man Beat GF, High on Wet

Ridley Police have confirmed two weather related deaths blamed on the recent snow storm. The two people, a 92-year-old woman and an 89-year-old man, died in separate incidents. The man died after wandering outside overnight into the bitter cold. His family discovered that he was not in his bed and found him in a neighbor's yard only wearing underwear. The man suffered from Alzheimer's. The circumstances of the woman's death have not been released but it also was due to the weather. The Delaware County Medical Examiner's Office also confirmed that a 67-year-old Swarthmore man was found unresponsive outside his home and an 87-year-old Wallingford man was shoveling snow when he felt faint and fell down. Both were taken to the hospital and pronounced dead. Be sure to check on your elders, limit your activity outside, and stay safe in this dangerous weather.

Recently retired Phillies pitchers Roy Halladay and Brad Lidge will join Phillies' staff in Clearwater, FL as guest instructors at spring training. Other alumni guest instructors include Larry Anderson, Dave Hollins, and Garry Matthews. Longtime guest instructor Phillies Hall of Famer Mike Schmidt will not be joining the club in Florida this year because his is dealing with a heath issue. According to the team, Schmidt, 64, is treating a health issue that requires him to stay near his doctors. He will visit camp in Mid-March and make visits to Philadelphia during the summer.

Police have arrested a Camden man for allegedly beating and stabbing his girlfriend on Tuesday. The man was reportedly high on â€œwetâ€ or marijuana laced with PCP. 36-year-old Marvin Sewell attacked the woman inside her apartment in the Branch Village public housing complex shortly before 8 a.m. Police responded to a store across from the complex. The woman was able to get away from the attack to the store; she was hit with a crowbar and stabbed in the neck and chest. Sewell is charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and two counts each of unlawful possession of a weapon and possessing a weapon for an unlawful purpose. He is being held in county jail on $350,000 cash bail or bond.
