Danny Boyle Killer Gets Sentence Vacated, Pothole Season Already, Double Dipping Deputy Mayors

A cop killer escaped a death row sentence and the family of the murdered officer is outraged. Judge Teresa Sarmina vacated the sentence of Edward Bracey who killed Officer Daniel Boyle 22 years ago. Sarmina found that Bracey was "mentally retarded" and could not be executed under a Supreme Court ruling. Bracey who shot Boyle during a traffic stop will spend life in prison.

Potholes are blooming early this year. The problem is the dramatic swings in temperatures weâ€™ve experienced this winter. Flat tires and bent rims are costing Philadelphia drivers hundreds of dollars at a time from pothole damage. The Streets Department is fixing more than 20 potholes a day but there is a backlog of 150 potholes and more appearing every day.

Michael Nutter has high ranking officials who may be double dipping deputy mayors who also have extra titles. Just after 13 part-time city recreation employees were dismissed from second jobs with government agencies, Controller Alan Butkovitz is looking into the legality of deputy mayor employees earning six figure salaries who hold second titles such as Director of Commerce or Health Commissioner.
