The bodies of a woman and a boy were discovered Saturday morning in the Wissinoming section of Philadelphia after a fire. Firefighters responded to an apartment building on the 4600 block of Howell Street just before 9 a.m. Inside the apartment they found a bloody mattress in the living room. Further in the first floor apartment, they found another mattress inside a closet that was on fire. The bodies of a young woman around 30-years-old and an 11-year-old boy were uncovered beneath that mattress. Neighbors say the mother and son moved in just a week and a half ago. One woman said that as the building began to fill with smoke a man appeared saying, 'Don't call the police, we'll handle it, we'll handle it.' Investigators are searching for that man as he fled the scene. The fire marshal determined that it was set intentionally. The medical examiner will have to perform autopsies to determine the cause of deaths and whether they succumbed to the fire or perhaps it was a coverup of another crime.

Police in Washington Township, NJ discovered the skeletal remains of a man who has been missing since last year. Michael Miller, 62, was reported missing on November 19, 2012, from his home at the Washington Way apartment complex. Miller had not been seen or heard from for about two months before that date. He was two months late on his rent. His car was found still parked in the apartment complex and his cell phone was inside his unit. Miller lived alone. His son and friend moved out in September 2012. His remains, found in a wooded area behind the complex, were identified by jewelry and medical records. Autopsy results are pending. The investigation is being pursued by the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office and the Washington Township Police Department.
